The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), a nationalist party in Tripura's ruling government, approved a host of resolutions, including submitting memorandums to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, urging them to support their demand for independent statehood.
On the last day of the two-day state central executive committee meeting at Dasarath Dev Smriti Bhavan, these resolutions were overwhelmingly passed. "The two-day CEC meeting finished today, and the party IPFT has ratified a series of resolutions to revitalise the party's organisation," stated IPFT General Secretary and Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia.
"The IPFT has resolved that all of the party's ministers and legislators will appear in deputations before Tripura Governor Biplab Kumar Deb and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. Written Memorandums will be delivered to the Chief Minister and Governor, urging them to support our requests. Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will receive copies of the memorandums, according to Jamatia.
"The fundamental demand of IPFT is the formation of a new state with sixth schedule territories of Tripura," Jamatia stated of the particular demands. We'll draw the attention of the state and the federal government to the need for enhanced empowerment in the TTAADC regions."
"For that reason, we will advocate for the district council to be converted into a territorial council," he continued. Another significant demand is for the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill to be passed as soon as possible, because it is directly related to the development of indigenous people." Jamatia also told the press that the party will hold a two-day state conference on March 5th and 6th, during which the new central executive committee would take over from the current one.
