The Tripura education department has decided to discontinue offline sessions in schools for lower standards due to COVID concerns in Tripura and the rest of the country.

Offline classes for students in pre-primary to class seven have been discontinued. In addition, all educational institutes' hostels in the state have been shuttered in an effort to reduce the number of COVID cases.

However, offline classes for students in grades 8 to 12 will continue on alternate days with a 50 percent physical attendance need. Tripura's education minister, Ratan Lal Nath, made the announcement on Saturday evening. During a meeting between officials from the state's education and health agencies, the decision to halt lower-level offline classes was made.

The new class rules will take effect on January 17 and will last through January 30. Tripura's education minister, Ratan Lal Nath, also stated that offline classes for pupils in grades 8 to 12 will continue to assist the state's ongoing vaccination campaign.
