Kochi: During the early hours of Friday morning, a bomb blast rocked Muliyathode, an area falling under the jurisdiction of the Panoor police station in Kannur. The explosion occurred while individuals were reportedly engaged in the hazardous activity of bomb-making, resulting in severe injuries to two people involved in the process.
The injured individuals have been identified as Vineesh from Muliyathode and Sheryl from Puttur. Both victims were swiftly rushed to a hospital in Kannur to receive urgent medical attention following the tragic incident. Upon learning of the explosion, the police promptly registered a case and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blast.
Expressing concern over the incident, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President and UDF candidate for the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency, K Sudhakaran, emphasized the need for a comprehensive inquiry. Sudhakaran pointed out that the explosion occurred amidst the context of bomb-making, suggesting a potential political motive behind the incident, particularly given its occurrence shortly before the elections. As a result, Sudhakaran announced his intention to lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission, urging for a thorough investigation into the blast and its underlying causes.
