Jhunjhunu: In a shocking incident in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, 8 people, including 6 women and 2 minors, were killed and 26 others were injured on Monday late night when a tractor trolley carrying them fell into a gorge in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district.
The incident took place when the victims were leaving a hilltop shrine in the evening. Six women and two juveniles were among the deaths, while many of the surviving are men, he said.
A per the latest information, a total of 34 casualties were admitted to hospitals, and eight of them passed away, according to Jhunjhunu collector Khushaal Yadav.
Tejpal Singh, the additional superintendent of police for Jhunjhunu, said that all of the injured had been sent to various medical facilities in the Jhunjhunu and Sikar districts.
The tragedy took place close to one mile from the Mansa Mata shrine, where a religious performance was taking place as the victims were returning. It is said that the tractor-trolley appeared to have been driven out of control before colliding with a post and falling into the valley.
Soon after learning of the disaster, state minister Rajendra Singh Gudha reached the CHC in Udaipurwati and spoke with staff members and residents. Meanwhile, a search operation is being conducted at the accident site to look for survivors, if any, the officials said.
