New Delhi: A big fraud case has come to light in the country's Supreme Court, in which the Supreme Court considered a living person as dead in a case related to the murder of former Bihar minister Brij Bihari Prasad. This person is Bihar's famous Satish Pandey, who is the brother of JDU MLA Amarendra Pandey. The Supreme Court did not discuss this in its decision by considering Satish Pandey as "dead" in this case.
Supreme Court verdict: On October 3, the Supreme Court sentenced Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla and Mantu Tiwari to life imprisonment in the Brij Bihari Prasad murder case and ordered them to surrender within two weeks. Both of them were currently out after being acquitted by the Patna High Court in 2014. The Supreme Court acquitted six accused in this case, including former Lok Janshakti Party MP Suraj Bhan Singh and muscleman Rajan Tiwari. In the 40-page document of this decision, Satish Pandey has been considered dead, while he is alive. Satish Pandey's younger brother Amarendra Pandey is a JDU MLA for the fifth consecutive time. The time of this high profile murder is when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar and Brij Bihari Prasad was shot along with his bodyguard Laxmeshwar Sahu in the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) campus.
Questions raised on CBI investigation: Ever since the case was handed over to the CBI, questions have been raised on the CBI investigation. A year after the murder on June 13, 1998, the case was handed over to the CBI on March 7, 1999. Bihar Police had conducted a preliminary investigation in the case and after that the CBI took it over. After the murder of Brij Bihari, a video of his wife and former MP Rama Devi went viral, in which she thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for this decision. Now when the Supreme Court gave its verdict, Satish Pandey was declared dead, whereas he is alive. This lapse has raised more questions on the CBI investigation.
Opposition parties can make it an issue: The Supreme Court's decision to declare Satish Pandey dead is being seen as a big mistake, and opposition parties can raise this issue. Especially considering that Satish Pandey is a famous person and brother of JDU MLA Amarendra Pandey. In such a situation, this case raises questions not only on the credibility of the judiciary but also on the credibility of the CBI. This decision of the Supreme Court has given rise to discussions across the country, and this matter can now also become a political issue.
