Saharanpur: In a shocking incident, a man snatched a 7-month-old baby from a woman's lap and ran away from her in the posh Area Mission Compound in Saharanpur. The woman raised an alarm and followed her, but the man failed to escape in the car. The entire incident was caught on CCTV. Police are investigating the case.

The incident took place at 12.45 pm on Friday. Heena, a resident of Jhuggad Hut on Khalasi Line in the Kotwali Sadar Bazar area, was sitting near Khemka Sadan in Mission Compound on Friday night. A wedding programme was going on at Khemka Sadan. The woman makes a living by eating demands. She also had her 7-month-old son Shiva in her lap. Then, a man approached a woman on foot and started talking to her.

After that, the young man put mud on the woman's eye and snatched the child from her lap and ran some distance and then ran away in the car. The woman raised an alarm and also chased the culprit, but she could not be caught. The entire incident was captured in a CCTV installed on a nearby house. Kotwali Sadar Bazar police reached the spot and started the investigation. The victim lodged a complaint with the police. SP City Abhimanyu Manglik said that a report of the incident is being registered. Efforts are being made to identify the culprit on the basis of CCTV footage. The police will soon arrest the culprit and recover the child.
