Jaipur: Rajasthan is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring and providing little respite for its residents. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that this intense heat is expected to continue, but some relief may arrive in four to five days.
In many areas of Rajasthan, particularly in the northern regions, temperatures have reached a sweltering 45 degrees Celsius. Nights offer no relief, with temperatures rising by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Indian Meteorological Center in Jaipur, informed the media that the next few days will see maximum temperatures remaining higher than usual across the western, northern, and north-eastern parts of the state. "Heatwave conditions have persisted in Northern Rajasthan for the last three to four days," Sharma said. "The minimum night temperature is being recorded 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal. The primary reason for this is the greater intensity of heat waves at night."
Sharma also attributed the worsening heatwave to the hot western winds sweeping through most districts of the state, predicting no significant change in these conditions over the next three to four days.
Regarding rainfall, Sharma mentioned that only certain areas in eastern Rajasthan might receive light rain accompanied by thunder in the coming days. "There is a possibility of light rain in some places in eastern Rajasthan over the next four to five days. Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions may see light afternoon showers. However, the weather will likely remain dry in most districts of Western Rajasthan," he said.
Sharma also noted that rain activity might increase in some northwestern districts of Rajasthan after June 19, potentially accompanied by strong dusty winds.
