According to media reports, on Thursday (September 29, 2022), students living in a girls' hostel in the Rawatpur area of Kanpur accused the hostel sweeper Rishi of making obscene videos. The girls said the accused was filming a student bathing from a broken part of the washroom. After this, when the girls snatched his mobile, it was found that there were videos of many girls on his mobile.

After the incident came to light, the students of the hostel went to Rawatpur police station and filed a case against the accused sweeper. At the same time, the police arrested the accused on the basis of the statement of the students and started investigating. The mobile phone of the accused has been sent for forensic examination. The students living in the hostel said that when they returned after filing an FIR, all the male employees of the hostel had left the hostel. The students also accused the hostel warden of suppressing the matter. After this incident, all the girls left the hostel and went back to their respective homes.
