New Delhi: The Supreme Court is set to deliver its judgment on Monday regarding the bail plea of former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The order will be announced by a bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal.

In January, the Supreme Court had reserved its decision on Jain's bail plea after hearing arguments from Additional Solicitor General SV Raju representing the ED, and Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, counsel for Jain. Additionally, the bench will also rule on the bail applications of co-accused Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain.

Jain, who currently enjoys interim bail on medical grounds, was arrested by the ED in May last year on allegations of money laundering through shell companies and illicitly acquiring land. His arrest followed the attachment of assets worth Rs 4.81 crore associated with Jain's family by the probe agency in a case of disproportionate assets.

Earlier this month, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena approved a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into Satyendar Jain's alleged involvement in an extortion racket. The CBI has accused the former Delhi Minister of receiving protection money from various "high-profile prisoners," including conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, in exchange for ensuring their peaceful and comfortable stay in prison.

According to the CBI, Jain purportedly extorted Rs 10 crore from Chandrasekhar as 'protection money'. This development adds another layer to the legal woes faced by Jain, further complicating the ongoing investigations into his alleged financial irregularities and criminal activities.
