The Supreme Court of India is set to hear three significant petitions today concerning the NEET-UG 2024, the national entrance exam for medical courses such as MBBS and BDS. This exam has been mired in controversy this year.
A vacation bench, comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, will address these issues surrounding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024.
One of the petitions was submitted by Alakh Pandey, the CEO of the EdTech company 'Physics Wallah'. Pandey's petition challenges the National Testing Agency (NTA) for allegedly awarding arbitrary grace marks to over 1,500 students. He has requested that the Supreme Court form an expert panel to thoroughly investigate the examination process and the results of NEET (UG) 2024.
This year’s exam results raised eyebrows as 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720, with Faridabad in Haryana drawing particular attention. Six students from a single center in Faridabad were among those who scored perfectly, leading to suspicions of irregularities.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has voiced strong concerns about the alleged discrepancies in the NEET exam results. She is demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against those involved.
Chaturvedi criticized the situation, highlighting how students spend years preparing for this critical exam, only to face issues like paper leaks. She mentioned rumors suggesting that the exam paper was leaked a day before the test. She also pointed to a problematic ecosystem involving coaching centers and colleges leaking the papers together, compromising the integrity of the examination process.
Supreme Court to Address NEET UG 2024 Petitions
In addition to Alakh Pandey's petition, two more individuals, Abdullah Mohammed Faiz and Jaripiti Kartheek, have approached the Supreme Court. They also challenge the NTA’s decision to randomly award grace marks to over 1,500 candidates, seeking a fair resolution.
