AMARAVATI: Students from Andhra Pradesh who are trapped in the violent Manipur will be flown back aboard a specialised aircraft.

The state government announced on Sunday that it has intensified efforts to securely transport Telugu students stuck in Manipur due to the rioting back to their homes.

The relevant officials have this level of coordination with the Central Government. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), around 100 AP students have been identified as studying in Manipur thus far.

The administration is taking action to arrange a special flight to return them. Officials from the Civil Aviation Department have stated that they will inform the Andhra Pradesh Government of the times of the special planes that will be flown to transport the students in this regard, according to the statement.

There are reportedly about 70 students stuck at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Imphal. Their relatives have asked the state government to provide a special aircraft so they can be safely evacuated from Manipur, which is rife with violence.

Parents of the pupils have asked the Andhra Pradesh government to make preparations similar to those being made by the Telangana government, which is dispatching a special plane to evacuate its inhabitants, out of concern for the safety of the students.

To facilitate Andhra Pradesh students in Manipur, the state government has established a helpline and control room at AP Bhavan in New Delhi.

There are two hotlines: 011-23384016 and 011-2338708.

A list of 100 students who are trapped in Manipur has been made public by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The remaining are students of NIT, Imphal, with 23 studying at Central Agricultural University, Imphal.

Aditya Nath Das, the resident commissioner for the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has asked Rajesh Kumar Singh, the chief secretary of Manipur, to set up escort and security to ensure the safety of 150 students travelling from Andhra Pradesh. According to his report, the parents of 100 students have been in touch.

In order to arrange flights for the safe passage of 150 students, the Resident Commissioner also wrote to Rajiv Bansal, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
