In a significant development, SpiceJet announced its plans to operate Haj flights from seven cities across India, including Srinagar, Gaya, and Guwahati. This move comes as the airline aims for a revival amidst its ongoing crisis.

Haj flights have proven to be a lucrative venture for SpiceJet, contributing substantially to its revenue. In the previous fiscal year, the airline raked in a noteworthy Rs 337 crore from its Haj operations, serving passengers from five Indian cities. With expectations running high, SpiceJet anticipates even greater returns from this year's Haj operations.

The carrier's expansion includes operating Haj flights from Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, and Vijayawada. The first phase of these operations is slated to commence on May 9, with flights bound for Medina.

To facilitate these Haj operations, SpiceJet intends to lease at least three wide-body planes. This strategy mirrors last year's approach when the airline introduced three such aircraft exclusively for Haj services.

Meanwhile, in another development, Saudi Arabia has initiated the official registration process for foreign pilgrims intending to participate in Hajj 2024. The Center for International Communication (CIC), operating under the Ministry of Media, disclosed that Muslim pilgrims worldwide, along with their families, can now register for Hajj 1445/2024 through the Nusuk Hajj application, facilitated by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Reports suggest that pilgrims from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania can submit their applications through the Nusuk Hajj application platform.
