President Droupadi Murmu, currently on a three-day visit to the Nilgiris, delivered an inspiring address to student officers at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington. Highlighting the college's picturesque location amid the Nilgiris, President Murmu expressed admiration for the campus and its vibrant environment. She warmly welcomed 38 international student officers from 26 countries, underscoring the institution's global appeal.

President Murmu praised the increasing presence of women in the armed forces, recalling her interactions with women officers serving in challenging terrains like Siachen and onboard frontline warships. She noted the historic milestone of a woman officer commanding an Indian Navy warship and the induction of women Agniveers. Emphasizing the importance of gender inclusivity, she encouraged more women to join the armed forces and carve new paths in traditionally male-dominated roles.

The President commended DSSC for its consistent efforts to modernize infrastructure and training methodologies. She highlighted the institution's role in grooming mid-level officers for leadership positions in the armed forces and civilian sectors. India's Defence Growth and Challenges
President Murmu reflected on India's strides in defence indigenization and self-reliance, fueled by initiatives like Make in India and the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. With defence exports growing 30-fold over the past decade, India has emerged as a reliable global partner, exporting to over 100 countries. She also recognized the contributions of organizations like HAL and DRDO in driving innovation and excellence.
Acknowledging the evolving global security landscape, President Murmu stressed the need to address emerging challenges like cyber warfare, terrorism, and climate change. She urged officers to deepen their understanding of geopolitical dynamics and embrace technological advancements to safeguard national interests.

Addressing international student officers, President Murmu emphasized India's commitment to global peace and security, rooted in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—"The world is one family."
