Pratapgarh: A man allegedly killed his mother at a brick kiln at Kathua bridge in Lalgopalganj chowki area under Nawabganj police station area here, police said on Sunday. He not only beat his mother but also smashed her eyes and strangled her to death. On receiving the news, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

According to the information received, Kanti Devi and her husband Sukhai Lal, residents of Kudha village under Hathigawan police station of Pratapgarh district, used to work in a slum at a brick kiln located on Kathua bridge next to Prayagraj-Lucknow national highway. At the same time, her son Bablu and daughter-in-law also work as stone pelters at the brick kiln. At 9 am on Friday, Bablu sent his father Sukhi Lal home from some work and brutally beat his mother Kanti Devi (55) with a stick and brick, severely injured one eye and then strangled her mother to death. Thereafter, the killer son also reached the village. Misleading the father unaware of his wife's murder, the son left the house at 12 noon and left the brick kiln and fled.

Sukhai Lal, husband of the deceased, said that the joint land of our three brothers has been acquired in Ram Van Gaman Marg, whose notice has also been received. The compensation for that land comes to Rs 17 lakh. We have 5 lakh 70 thousand to come in our share. I have three sons Rajkumar, Bablu and Soni and a daughter. My second son, Bablu, got angry and started arguing with his mother and torturing her after the wife promised to give equal amount to the four men. In the end, she was put to death.
