Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora expressed gratitude over his selection as the Mahayuti candidate for the Worli constituency, pledging to represent the aspirations of Worli residents and ensure their concerns reach Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Deora, currently a Rajya Sabha member and a three-time MP from South Mumbai, shared his commitment to listening to every resident of Worli and bringing their issues to the forefront.

Posting on X, Deora said, “I agree with Shiv Sena's decision to field me as a Mahayuti candidate from Worli, Mumbai. I will try my best to understand the aspirations of every Worlikar and convey their voice to @mieknathshindeJi.”

Deora will be facing off with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, making Worli a focal point in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Chief Minister Shinde has voiced his support for Deora, emphasizing that justice for Worli is overdue, and hinted at a shared vision for the constituency’s future.

The announcement comes amid intensified election preparations across Maharashtra, where 288 Assembly seats are up for grabs. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), BJP, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, is set to compete against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).

On October 24, Aaditya Thackeray filed his nomination from the Worli constituency, expressing confidence in the support of Worli’s people and the opportunity to play a key role in forming the government in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena announced a list of 20 candidates, with Deora confirmed as the candidate to contest against Aaditya Thackeray in Worli, and Sanjay Nirupam chosen for Dindoshi.

In other developments, former MP of Palghar Lok Sabha Constituency Rajendra Gavit, BJP’s Sanjana Jadhav, and Vilas Tare from Boisar have officially joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Maharashtra's Assembly elections are set for November 20, with counting scheduled for November 23.
