New Delhi: The Saket court has acquitted Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alumnus Sharjeel Imam in the Jamia violence case. A charge sheet was filed against Sharjeel under sections 143, 147, 148, 186, 353, 332, 333, 308, 427, 435, 323, 341, 120B and 34 of IPC and Unlawful Assembly Section, now in this case the court has absolved Sharjeel of the charges. 

However, even now Sharjeel will not be able to come out of jail. Because the Delhi riots conspiracy case of the year 2020 is still going on against him. A charge sheet has also been filed in the case. At the same time, a case is also going on against Sharjeel in the case of giving provocative statements, in which the Imam had told to separate Assam from India, Delhi Police Crime Branch investigated the matter. In this case, Imam was charged with sedition and UAPA, in this case, also he has not been granted bail.

Let us inform you that, in his speech, Sharjeel Imam talked about separating the narrow land area i.e. Chicken Neck area connecting Assam with other parts of the country. A case was also registered against Sharjeel by the Special Cell of Delhi Police under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Let us inform you that for the speech given by Sharjeel at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on January 16, 2020, a sedition case was registered against him in 5 states. In this, Delhi, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur were included. Sharjeel was arrested from Bihar.

Let us tell you that the Delhi Police had filed the charge sheet against Sharjeel. According to him, he had created hatred, contempt, and displeasure among people (especially Muslims) towards the central government through his speeches, which incited people and then violence in Jamia in December 2019.
