Mumbai: Mumbai-bound Vistara flight UK 024, carrying 306 passengers and crew, encountered a security scare when a handwritten note threatening a bomb was found on board, reported a source. Departing from Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris, the flight landed in Mumbai at 10:19 am on Sunday, under a full emergency status declared at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 10:08 am.

Among the 306 individuals on board, 294 were passengers while the remaining 12 comprised the crew. Vistara issued a statement acknowledging the security concern on flight UK 024 and assured full cooperation with authorities. The airline promptly informed relevant authorities upon learning of the threat and is collaborating with security agencies for necessary checks.

This incident follows a similar occurrence on Friday involving a Delhi-Srinagar Vistara flight, which received a bomb threat mid-air. Although the flight landed safely in Srinagar and all occupants were evacuated, subsequent investigations deemed the threat non-credible. Additionally, last week, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi faced a bomb scare after a tissue paper bearing the word 'bomb' was discovered in the lavatory. However, subsequent inspections revealed no evidence of explosives.

These incidents add to a recent wave of bomb threats targeting various establishments, including government facilities, educational institutions, hospitals, airports, and hotels. Investigations into these threats have consistently proven them to be false alarms. For instance, Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport received bomb threats on May 27, but subsequent searches yielded no suspicious items. Similarly, bomb threats received by Lady Sri Ram College and other Delhi University institutions on May 23 were determined to be hoaxes, as were threats targeting luxury hotels in Bengaluru and the Union Home Ministry earlier that month.

In another instance on May 1, nearly 100 schools in Delhi, along with schools in Noida and Lucknow, received bomb threats via email, all of which were subsequently dismissed as fake.
