Kolkata: After a two-year hiatus, schools in West Bengal reopened today for basic and upper primary children. Physical education classes are already being offered in the state to students in grades 8 through 12. As the children returned to school, they followed the COVID-19 guidelines.
"We reopened for elementary and upper primary schools today, adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines for everyone's safety. Before entering the school grounds, students' hands were sanitised ", according to Sulogna Bhattacharya, Assistant Head Mistress of a Silguri primary school.
The West Bengal government revised the COVID-19 restrictions in the state on Monday, announcing the reopening of all primary and upper primary schools with effect from February 16 due to an improvement in the coronavirus pandemic scenario.
All COVID protocols will be followed when the schools reopen. According to a state government directive, the night curfew will be in effect from midnight to 5 a.m. until February 28.
