Bareilly: Three people tragically lost their lives in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after their car, guided by Google Maps, drove onto an under-construction flyover and plunged into a river. The accident occurred on Saturday when the victims, two of whom were identified as Vivek and Amit, were traveling from Gurugram to Bareilly to attend a wedding.

The victims were using Google Maps for directions when the GPS mistakenly led them onto the incomplete bridge. The car drove onto the structure and fell into the shallow Ramganga river from a height of 50 feet. The damaged car was discovered the next morning by locals, and the three men were found dead inside.

The police were alerted and arrived at the scene, confirming the incident. A Wagon R, which appeared to be a hired taxi, was found in the river. Authorities confirmed the deaths of the two identified victims, Vivek and Amit, and are working to confirm the identity of the third person.

"The damaged car was found on the river at 9:30 am. Upon investigation, we saw that the car had fallen from an incomplete bridge into the river," said a police spokesperson. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations, and investigations are ongoing.

In response, Google expressed its condolences to the victims' families and assured that it is working closely with authorities to investigate the cause of the incident. A Google spokesperson said, "Our deepest sympathies go out to the families. We are cooperating with the authorities and providing our support for further investigation."

Family members of the victims have raised concerns over the lack of safety measures at the site, including the absence of barricades at the unfinished flyover. They have called for an FIR to be filed against the construction department for negligence.
