Mumbai, India - The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to unveil a lifelike statue of Sachin Tendulkar at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. This revered venue has been a sacred ground for the master batsman, and the statue's unveiling coincides with a significant cricket event.

Sachin Tendulkar, a man with a treasure trove of cricketing records to his name, is celebrated with the unveiling of his life-sized statue on the eve of the India-Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2023 clash. Tendulkar, who boasts an astonishing 15,921 Test runs and a staggering 18,426 ODI runs, will grace the unveiling ceremony with his presence.

The finishing touches are currently being applied to the statue, prominently placed near the Sachin Tendulkar Stand at Wankhede Stadium. This remarkable sculpture commemorates five decades of Tendulkar's life, as he celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this year.

The grand unveiling ceremony, scheduled for November 1, will see the presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, adding a touch of political significance to the event.

Wankhede Stadium holds a special place in Tendulkar's heart as it witnessed his emotional farewell to the game. After an illustrious career spanning two decades, the right-handed maestro played his 200th and final Test match on this hallowed ground in November 2013.

Shifting focus to the ongoing ICC tournament, India has been on a winning streak, securing victory in six consecutive matches as they pursue their first Cricket World Cup trophy since 2011 when they last hosted the event.
