Dehradun: On Tuesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the Open Run for Unity Cross Country race held at Pavilion Ground in Dehradun. This event celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a prominent figure in India's history.

While honoring Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, Dhami emphasized that Patel dedicated his life to the unity and integrity of the nation. "His life inspires us to serve our country," the Chief Minister said.

The "Run for Unity" is an annual event organized on October 31, coinciding with Patel's birthday. However, this year, due to Diwali falling on the same date, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his 'Mann Ki Baat' program that the race would take place on October 29.

Dhami highlighted Patel's pivotal role in realizing the vision of a united India through his strong will and commitment. "By integrating more than 560 princely states, he helped create a powerful nation that embodies unity in diversity," he remarked.

He also acknowledged Patel's significant contributions as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India, which played a crucial role in shaping modern India. "Every citizen will always be grateful for Patel's efforts to bind the nation together," Dhami added.

The 'Run for Unity' aims to inspire a sense of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' among all citizens. "Unity and integrity are not just ideals but the responsibility of every Indian. This race is not merely a competition; it serves as a platform to strengthen the bonds of unity and integrity in our country," Dhami stated.
