New Delhi: Speculation has intensified over senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath's potential switch to the BJP following his arrival in Delhi today. Sources have informed the media that Nath is scheduled to meet with the ruling party's leadership in the capital.
Rumors have been circulating for several days regarding the possibility of both Kamal Nath and his son, Nakul Nath, departing from the Congress. The speculation gained momentum earlier today when Nakul Nath, the sole Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, removed the party's name from his social media bio coinciding with Kamal Nath's arrival in Delhi. Earlier this month, Nakul Nath had announced himself as the candidate for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat, which he had previously won in 2019, without waiting for an official endorsement from the Congress. Addressing a gathering in his constituency, the Congress MP affirmed his candidacy, dispelling rumors about his father Kamal Nath's potential participation in the election.
Sources have revealed that it remains undecided whether Kamal Nath will indeed join the BJP or simply resign from the Congress. However, Nakul Nath is reportedly poised to receive a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Chhindwara, with the logistics of his party transition currently under discussion. Upon his arrival in Delhi, reporters queried Kamal Nath about his potential move to the BJP, to which he responded with a non-committal stance. While he refrained from confirming or denying the speculation, the former chief minister assured reporters that if any such decision were to be made, he would inform them first.
