Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has sought an economic package worth Rs 2000 crore from the Central Government for Joshimath's subsidence-stricken districts and the rehabilitation of the affected population, said Secretary to Chief Minister R Meenakshi Sundaram today.
Secretary Sundaram continued, "The state government has produced the layout of the package on the basis of the assessment of the harm done at its level. "This amount may alter following the final report of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Joshimath," Sundaram stated detailing the package.
Notably, 995 people are currently residing in different relief camps or rented homes due to landslides and house cracks, Sundaram said.
As part of the rehabilitation strategy declared by the state administration led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand Government began distributing compensation money to the owners of the properties harmed by land subsidence in the Joshimath area on March 3.
Three impacted people received a total of 63.20 lakh as part of the distribution of the rehabilitation package on the first day.
Subedar Major Manglu Lal (Senior) of Gandhinagar Ward, Krishna Panwar, and Baldev Singh Panwar of Sunil Ward are among the affected people to whom the compensation sum has been given. To these three families, a total of 63.20 lakh has been paid in compensation.
