The cabinet of Tripura has authorised the employment of retired officials to handle pending departmental proceedings. The Tripura government would hire retired civil service and court personnel to expedite the resolution of pending departmental proceedings.

Sushanta Chowdhury, a Tripura minister, confirmed this. According to Chowdhury, the decision was made after the Tripura government reviewed ongoing departmental proceedings against state government personnel. Specifically, the Tripura government administration has been experiencing a severe lack of senior personnel.

However, due to outstanding legal actions, several state government employees have been denied promotions. "For the completion of outstanding departmental enquiries, the cabinet has authorised the employment of retired IAS, Tripura Civil Service, and Tripura Judicial Service personnel," Chowdhury added.

"The retired policemen would make certain that the pending proceedings are finished within three months," he added. Meanwhile, the Tripura cabinet has accepted land allotment plans for the Tripura Medical College and Forensic University. While a 25-acre plot of land for the Tripura Medical College has been authorised, a 49.21-acre plot of land has been approved for the Forensic University.
