Kochi: The well-known writer K.B. Sridevi, aged 84, has passed away due to age-related ailments. He breathed his last at his son's residence in Tripunithura. The cremation is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at 4 pm in Tripunithura. Born on May 1, 1940, in Vellakattumana, Malappuram district, to Gauri Antharjanam and Narayanan Bhattathiripad.

Educated at High School, Tripunithura Girls High School, and Varavoor Government School, Sridevi also studied veena under Devakiamma for three years at Vandoor VMC. At the age of sixteen, he married Namboothiripad Brahmadatta. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to Malayalam literature, excelling in storytelling, novels, studies, children's literature, and drama. Notable works include Yajna, Agnihotra, Parajipeta Pantirukulam, Third Generation, Mukhatekumukam, Thiruzhichila, and Kuttithirumeni.

The late writer received several accolades, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Kerala State Film Award for the story 'Nirmala,' Kumkumum Award, Nalapadan Narayana Menon Award, V.T. Award, Gnanapana Award, and Amrita Kirti Award. He was also honored with the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Comprehensive Contribution Award. Sridevi delved into writing children's books, exploring the lives of women in the Namboothiri community and delving into Indian mythology, with notable works such as Yajna, Agnihotra, and Paraji Peta Pantirukulam.
