Shillong: Sati Devi, head of the National Meteorological Forecasting Center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), has predicted that there is a strong flow of southwest winds from the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, Assam and Meghalaya will have very high humidity and heavy rain is expected. IMD said that there is a possibility of rain in most areas, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at different places.
On the other hand, IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra has also said that a red-colour coded alert has been issued in Assam and Meghalaya for the next three days. He has said that in northeast India, the rainfall is more in May, but in June it is the most. Also in the meantime, the progress of the monsoon, which was interrupted by super cyclone Amfan, will begin on Wednesday. He said that the monsoon will start moving into Andaman and Nicobar Islands and other parts of the Bay of Bengal from Wednesday.
According to IMD, the monsoon will start in Kerala on June 5, four days after the normal date. Mohapatra said that from May 30, a low-pressure area is also forming in the Arabian Sea. The low-pressure zone is the first phase of any cyclone. However, it is not necessary that the cyclone intensifies in each low-pressure region. IMD said fishermen have also been alerted on the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka not to attempt deep sea fishing from May 30-June.
