New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh likened Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the 'best finisher' in Indian politics, drawing parallels to MS Dhoni's role as the 'best finisher' in cricket.

"I sometimes wonder why this is happening, and I reach this conclusion. Who is the best finisher in cricket? (After the crowd said) Dhoni. If anyone asks me who is the best finisher in Indian politics, I will say it is Rahul Gandhi. This is the reason why several leaders have left Congress," the senior BJP leader stated at an election rally in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district.

Singh also accused the Congress of having an "unbreakable" relationship with corruption. "Congress and corruption are inextricably linked. Most Congress governments faced corruption allegations, but no such allegations were made against any minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government," he asserted.

He noted the dwindling political dominance of the Congress, once a formidable force in Indian politics, now ruling only two or three small states.

Earlier, Singh had remarked that Rahul Gandhi would not stop until he "finished" the Congress.

Supporting the proposal of 'One-nation, one-election', Singh claimed it would save time and resources. He refuted Congress's claims against the proposal, stating it would strengthen Indian democracy.

Singh emphasized the government's focus on bolstering the Indian economy, citing predictions by major financial firms that India would rank among the top three economies globally by 2027. He credited PM Modi's government for elevating India to the top five economies from the 11th spot a decade ago.

Singh envisioned India as a superpower by 2045 and criticized the Congress for unfulfilled promises during its tenure. He contrasted BJP's track record of fulfilling promises in ten years with Congress's alleged failures.

Asserting that politics should prioritize nation-building over appeasement, Singh highlighted India's stance on terror attacks during the UPA rule. He affirmed India's willingness to maintain good relations with Pakistan but warned of retaliation if provoked, citing past actions taken across the border.
