New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the BJP during a 'Loktantra Bachao' rally in Delhi on Sunday. He stated that the BJP's "400 paar slogan" was unattainable without match-fixing, alleging that the Prime Minister had handpicked "umpires" to ensure the party's victory.
Addressing the rally organized by the Opposition INDIA bloc to protest the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate, Gandhi accused the BJP of resorting to various tactics such as EVM manipulation, social media influence, and pressurizing the press to secure electoral victories.
Drawing parallels with cricket match-fixing, Gandhi remarked that the Prime Minister's selection of "umpires" and the arrest of opposition leaders resembled attempts at rigging the electoral process.
He also criticized the closure of Congress party bank accounts during the election season, alleging further interference with the democratic process. Gandhi asserted that the BJP, along with a few influential capitalists, was engaged in a scheme to undermine the Constitution and oppress the poor.
Emphasizing the significance of the upcoming elections in safeguarding democracy and constitutional values, Gandhi urged voters to resist the BJP's alleged machinations and defend the Constitution.
The rally witnessed the participation of several opposition leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, Uddhav Thackeray, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Sanjay Raut, Sharad Pawar, Kalpana Soren, and others.
