Double Olympic medalist and badminton champion PV Sindhu has entered a new chapter of her life, tying the knot with Venkata Datta Sai in a grand traditional ceremony on Sunday, December 22, in Udaipur. The couple exchanged vows in the presence of family, close friends, and distinguished guests, including Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Traditional Wedding Festivities:

The celebrations started on December 20 with a vibrant Sangeet ceremony. On December 21, Sindhu and Datta participated in Haldi, Mehendi, and Pellikuthuru, a significant South Indian tradition symbolizing the bride's transition to married life. The couple looked stunning in elegant traditional attire, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the occasion.

Venkata Datta Sai, an executive director at a Hyderabad-based tech company, got engaged to Sindhu in a private ceremony on December 14. The newlyweds are set to host a grand reception in Hyderabad on December 24, where they will celebrate their union with a larger gathering of family and friends.

Sindhu's Focus on Upcoming Badminton Season

Even amid the wedding celebrations, PV Sindhu remains committed to her sporting career. The star athlete is gearing up for the Malaysia Open Super 1000 tournament, scheduled to begin on January 7, which marks the start of the new Olympic cycle leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Sindhu’s last major victory was at the Syed Modi International in Lucknow, where she displayed exceptional form. Fans eagerly anticipate her return to the court, as she skillfully balances her new personal life with her professional aspirations.

The pre-wedding festivities for Sindhu began with much fanfare in Hyderabad on December 20, featuring traditional Sangeet, Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi ceremonies.

Sindhu’s father revealed that the two families have shared a close bond for years, but the wedding plans were finalized within just a month. The chosen date aligned with Sindhu’s packed schedule of training and competitions, ensuring minimal disruption to her routine.

Earlier this month, on December 1, Sindhu achieved a significant milestone by breaking her Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour title drought. She triumphed over China’s Wu Luo Yu in the finals of the Syed Modi India International badminton tournament held in Lucknow.
