New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan greeted PM Modi, and the two leaders exchanged handshakes and hugs. A guard of honour was also accorded to Prime Minister Modi.

PM Modi is scheduled to address the Indian diaspora at the "Ahlan Modi" event and inaugurate the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The anticipation for PM Modi's visit is palpable, with the number of attendees for the Ahlan Modi event surpassing 65,000. The Indian expatriate community, which comprises approximately 3.5 million people, represents the largest ethnic group in the UAE, constituting roughly 35% of the country's population.

Jitendra Vaidya, President of the Indian People Forum and leader of the Ahlan Modi initiative, expressed his excitement and anticipation for the landmark event. He highlighted the enthusiastic response from the public, with preparations well underway for the event. Ved Prakash Gupta, a member of the Indian diaspora and volunteer at the Ahlan Modi event, emphasized the significance of this occasion for India-UAE relations. He praised the collaborative efforts of the team and underscored the pride felt by Indians in welcoming PM Modi.

Ahead of his visit, Prime Minister Modi expressed his anticipation for meeting his "brother," the President of UAE, with whom he shares a strong rapport. This marks PM Modi's third visit to the Gulf country in the past eight months, reflecting the importance of strengthening ties with the region. During his visit, PM Modi will focus on enhancing multifaceted ties with Dubai and will inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. He hailed the temple as a symbol of harmony, peace, and tolerance shared between India and the UAE.

The Ahlan Modi event, organized by the Indian community in Abu Dhabi, has garnered unprecedented attention, highlighting the immense support from the Indian expatriate community. PM Modi's visit to the UAE will span from February 13 to 14, following which he will proceed to Doha.
