Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, today to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 23 projects, with a total investment of over Rs 6,611 crore.
In a social media post ahead of his visit, Modi said, “My government is committed to making life easier for all brothers and sisters in Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, and across the country. Tomorrow at 2 p.m., I will inaugurate the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital and dedicate several other projects to the people.”
Among the key highlights of the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, built at a cost of Rs 90 crore, in the presence of Shankaracharya Swami Vijayendra Saraswati. He will also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Varanasi Airport and the construction of a new terminal building.
Additionally, projects related to health, education, sports, religion, tourism, and housing will be launched. During his visit, Modi is expected to announce a new free food initiative by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, aimed at providing meals to students from 16 Sanskrit schools and attendants of three hospitals.
The "Satvik Sanatan Kitchen" initiative, which has already benefitted 3,000 people in its trial phase, plans to expand its reach to 5,000 beneficiaries. Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, CEO of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, indicated that the Prime Minister is likely to unveil this project during his visit.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other senior leaders will accompany the Prime Minister. Modi is expected to arrive at around 1 p.m. and depart for Delhi by 6 p.m.
Upon his arrival, Modi will be welcomed by the Governor, Chief Minister Adityanath, and several other top officials. The BJP’s Kashi region President, Dilip Patel, said that a grand welcome with drums and flowers has been planned for the Prime Minister at various locations.
After arriving at Babatpur International Airport, Modi will proceed to the Sigra Sports Complex to lay the foundation stones for additional projects, including the Rs 380.13 crore Sigra Stadium. He will also address a gathering of athletes, intellectuals, public representatives, and BJP workers at the stadium.
In addition to the eye hospital and stadium, 14 other projects will be inaugurated, and two key schemes worth Rs 2,874.17 crore will have their foundation stones laid during the event.
