New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 25th National Youth Festival in Puducherry on January 12 at 11 am, through video conferencing. The day, which commemorates Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary, is known as National Youth Day.
Due to the unfolding COVID issue, the festival has been rescheduled to take place virtually from January 12 to 13. The National Youth Summit, which will feature panel discussions on four identified themes, will follow the inauguration. During the Festival, participants will be shown recorded video capsules of Puducherry, Auroville, Immersive City Experience, indigenous sports games, and folk dances, among other things. In the evening, there will be open talks with Olympians and Paralympians, followed by live performances. In the morning, a virtual yoga practise would be held," it stated.
The Prime Minister will also open a Technology Centre for the MSME Ministry in Puducherry, which cost Rs 122 crore to build. The Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Sector will be the emphasis of this Technology Centre, which will be equipped with cutting-edge technology. It will contribute to young skill development by training roughly 6400 trainees per year.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam, a Rs 23 crore auditorium featuring an open-air theatre built by the Government of Puducherry. The PMO stated that it would be largely utilised for educational purposes and that it could accommodate more than 1000 people.
