Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a spiritual journey as he performed puja and darshan at Guruvayur Sri Krishna Swamy Temple in Thrissur, Kerala, on Wednesday morning.

Guruvayur Devaswom, dedicated to Lord Guruvayurappan, is a revered Hindu temple often called Bhuloka Vaikuntham (Holy Abode of Vishnu on Earth).

PM Modi's visit to Kerala commenced on Tuesday night with a warm welcome from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, MoS V Muraleedharan, and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar at Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery.

The Prime Minister led a grand roadshow in Kochi on Tuesday, drawing thousands of enthusiastic supporters. Accompanied by BJP state president K Surendran, PM Modi's motorcade made its way through the city.

During his Kerala visit, PM Modi is set to inaugurate three significant infrastructure projects, collectively valued at over Rs. 4,000 crore. These include the New Dry Dock (NDD) at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) of CSL, and the LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Puthuvypeen, Kochi.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, these projects align with Modi's vision to enhance India's ports, shipping, and waterways sectors, fostering capacity and self-sufficiency. The projects are expected to stimulate the nation's shipbuilding and repair capabilities, energize the growth of energy infrastructure and related industries, bolster EXIM trade, reduce logistics costs, drive economic growth, and create numerous domestic and international business opportunities.

This marks PM Modi's second visit to Kerala in two weeks. On Tuesday, he offered prayers at the Veerabhadra temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, a site of significance in the Ramayana. Listening to verses from the Ranganatha Ramayan in Telugu, the Prime Minister paid homage to the temple associated with the epic's storyline. The temple is believed to be the place where the wounded Jatayu, a bird defeated by Ravana during the abduction of Goddess Sita, sought refuge. Granting Moksha to Jatayu, Lord Rama learned about Sita's abduction from the dying bird.
