Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu extended their heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Vijayadashami, celebrated on Saturday.
President Murmu, in her message, said, "On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This is a festival symbolizing the triumph of justice over injustice. It reflects our deep faith in truth and morality." She further encouraged the public to uphold justice even in challenging times and wished that the festival brings happiness, prosperity, and continued progress for the nation.
Prime Minister Modi also shared his wishes, saying, "Best wishes to the countrymen on Vijayadashami. With the blessings of Maa Durga and Lord Shri Ram, I hope everyone achieves victory in all areas of life."
Both President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled to attend a Dussehra event at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, organized by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee. The event, marking its 101st year, will begin at 5:30 pm. Dheeraj Dhar Gupta, General Secretary of the committee, shared that the Ravana effigy will stand at 70 feet tall, with heightened security measures in place due to the Prime Minister’s presence.
Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is one of the most significant Hindu festivals, observed on the tenth day of Ashvin, the seventh month of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar. It celebrates the legendary victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and marks the beginning of Diwali preparations, celebrated 20 days later.
