Prime Minister Narendra Modi  met with French President Emmanuel Macron during the G20 Summit. The two leaders discussed strengthening collaboration in key sectors such as space exploration, energy, and artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, Modi praised Macron for France's successful hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris earlier this year.

On the first day of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meetings with the leaders of Indonesia, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Norway. These discussions, held on the sidelines of the summit, focused on strengthening cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, including bilateral trade and other collaborative efforts.

One of the key announcements from these meetings was the establishment of two new consulates in the United Kingdom.

During his bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the primary focus was on enhancing partnerships in trade, tourism, defense, and connectivity. They also discussed global and regional challenges, emphasizing close cooperation within the G20 and the importance of prioritizing the Global South.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Modi expressed his joy over the meeting, calling Macron a friend. He shared that they discussed ongoing cooperation between India and France in innovative fields like space, energy, and AI, as well as their mutual efforts to strengthen cultural and personal connections between the two nations.

The Prime Minister also shared photos from the meeting, showing a warm greeting between the two leaders.

Macron, in his post on X, highlighted the strong and multifaceted relationship between France and India. He noted that they reviewed the progress of initiatives introduced during his state visit in January, along with other key international matters. Macron also shared a short video of the leaders embracing and sharing a light-hearted moment.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the meeting on X as a step toward enhancing the India-France Strategic Partnership. According to the MEA, Modi and Macron explored ways to deepen ties in areas like trade, technology, and artificial intelligence, while also sharing views on regional and global issues, including the Indo-Pacific region.

During the G20 Summit, Modi engaged with a range of international leaders from countries such as Italy, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Norway, and Portugal. Earlier, Modi briefly met with U.S. President Joe Biden, although no specific details about their interaction were disclosed.

In addition, Modi took the opportunity to connect with leaders from Brazil, Singapore, and Spain during the summit's side events.
