VIZAG: At Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for many projects totaling more than Rs 10,500 crore.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present on the occasion.
PM laid the foundation stone for the six-lane Greenfield Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor's Andhra Pradesh segment. The project will cost more than Rs 3,750 crore.
"Faster access to Visakhapatnam Port and the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway from Chhattisgarh and Odisha's industrial nodes will be made possible by the Economic Corridor. Also, it will enhance connectivity to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha's tribal and underdeveloped regions "the Office of the Prime Minister said.
In Visakhapatnam, the Prime Minister also dedicated a Port Road that runs from Convent Junction to Sheela Nagar Junction. By separating local and port-bound goods traffic, it will reduce traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam City. He also dedicated the Narasannapeta to Pathapatnam stretch of NH-326A, which was constructed as a part of the Srikakulam-Gajapati corridor at a cost of more than Rs 200 crore.
U-field Onshore Deepwater Block Project of ONGC in Andhra Pradesh, developed at a cost of more than Rs 2,900 crores, was dedicated to the nation by the prime minister.
With a daily gas production potential of around 3 million metric standard cubic metres, it is the project's deepest gas discovery (MMSCMD). He will lay the foundation stone for GAIL's project to build the 6.65 MMSCMD Srikakulam Angul Natural Gas Pipeline.
"Over Rs 2650 crores will be spent on the construction of this 745 kilometre pipeline, which is a part of the Natural Gas Grid (NGG), would build the necessary infrastructure for supplying natural gas to domestic homes, businesses, and the automotive industry in several regions of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The pipeline will deliver natural gas to Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts' City Gas Distribution Network "PMO said.
The foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister for the renovation of Visakhapatnam Railway Station, which is expected to cost about Rs 450 crores. The 75,000 daily passengers that the station would serve after being renovated would benefit from the addition of contemporary amenities.
He lay the foundation stone for the modernization and improvement of the fishing harbour in Visakhapatnam. The project will cost about Rs 150 crores in total.
