Dehradun: There has been an uproar in Uttarkashi district as soon as a case of conspiracy to take away a minor girl has come to light. In Purola market of the district, angry local shopkeepers have intensified the protest against a particular community. Due to this outrage, 42 outside shopkeepers fled the city overnight.
In fact, in Nagar Panchayat Purola, two youths of a particular community were caught conspiring to drive away the minor daughter of a local shopkeeper. However, some local boys had saved the minor from escaping. But after this, the anger of the people of the surrounding areas including Uttarkashi broke out and soon a demonstration started in Purola against the people of a particular community.
In protest, shopkeepers kept their shops and closed hotels. Several organisations, including youth and women, who had gathered from nearby areas, including Purola, shouted slogans to wake up the police administration. Heavy police force was deployed in view of the resentment of people running business establishments, shops and hotels. The protesters took their protest in the form of a procession from the streets of the city and reached near the administration. Where they submitted a memorandum to the Governor through SDM Devanand Sharma. The memorandum demanded immediate removal of shops in Purola Nagar belonging to criminal types of persons belonging to a particular community. Due to this, the angry crowd also removed the boards in their shops.
