New Delhi: Delhi's Patiala House Court has extended the interim bail of Engineer Rashid, the Member of Parliament from Baramulla, until October 15 in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case.
Initially granted interim bail until October 2, Rashid's bail was extended by 10 days on October 1. The court has now further pushed his surrender date to October 15 instead of the previously set date of October 13, as confirmed by his lawyer. Rashid had filed a petition in the Patiala House Court seeking a three-month interim bail to participate in the campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. During the hearing, Rashid's lawyer requested the court for interim bail until at least October 10 to cover the election period, but the court initially granted bail only until October 2. Afterward, it was extended by 10 days and subsequently for an additional three days.
Engineer Rashid, who has been held in Delhi's Tihar Jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act since 2017 due to his involvement in a terror funding case, was recently released on interim bail. His party participated in the Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir but did not achieve significant results.
