New Delhi: In a tragic incident, an aircraft carrying passengers reportedly crashed in Afghanistan's Badakhshan region on Saturday night. The Afghanistan News agency, Khaama Press, reported that the plane deviated from its original course and collided with the mountainous terrain of Zebak district in Badakhshan on January 20th. Initially, there were reports suggesting that the plane belonged to India, but the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) later confirmed that the ill-fated plane did not belong to any Indian airlines.

According to preliminary information, a passenger jet aircraft crashed in the mountainous areas of Top Khana, including the districts of Kiran and Minjan, and Zebak district in Badakhshan. However, security officials in the province have stated that the type of aircraft and the number of passengers on board have not yet been determined.

There are conflicting reports from multiple Afghan media outlets, with some suggesting it was a chartered plane en route to Moscow, while others claim it was a passenger plane. Further details are awaited as authorities investigate the incident.
