NEW DELHI: During the ongoing Winter Parliament Session 2023, the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee is slated to present its report on the second day, proposing the expulsion of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra due to allegations regarding cash-for-query incidents.
At the Parliament premises, representatives from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a demonstration, expressing their dissatisfaction with what they perceive as the improper utilization of central agencies. Their protest aimed to shed light on concerns regarding the alleged politicization and misapplication of investigative bodies.
AAP MPs assembled to voice their dissent, brandishing placards and banners, calling for increased transparency and accountability within the operations of these central agencies. The protest unfolded amid ongoing discussions and controversies concerning the utilization of investigative agencies for political gains.
Meanwhile, in the initial session proceedings, the Rajya Sabha successfully passed the Post Office Bill, 2023, while the Lok Sabha approved the Advocates (Amendment) Bill 2023. The echoes of BJP's recent triumphs in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan reverberated throughout Monday's session. Members of the Lower House commenced the session with chants of "Modi sarkaar, teesri baar" (Modi government for the third time).
Furthermore, the Rajya Sabha lifted the suspension of AAP MP Raghav Chadha, previously suspended for procedural violations related to recommending MPs' names to a select committee without their consent.
