Anakapalle (Andhra Pradesh): Following a gas leak at an apparel manufacturing company in the Brandix Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Andhra Pradesh's Atchyutapuram district, as many as 50 female employees were taken to the hospital on Tuesday. According to early reports, women workers may have become unconscious owing to nausea and vomiting.
At Quantum Seeds, a division of Brandix in the Anakapalli district, female employees had reportedly become ill after breathing some hazardous gas.
A few women became unwell after a gas leak in an Achutapuram company was reported, according to Anakapalle Police. Some of them were taken urgently to a nearby hospital. No one was permitted inside the premises while police waited for APPCB personnel to show up and assess the situation.
Inspector of Police for Ankapalle stated, "The incident happened between 6:15 and 7:15." The second shift, which ran from 2 to 10 p.m., included about 1000 workers. 50 ladies who complained of nausea and vomiting were taken to Ankapalle Hospital.
The situation is under control. The staff members are receiving treatment after becoming ill with minor symptoms. The incident's cause is yet unknown. There have been no recorded fatalities, a police official added.
