Guyana: With a seven-wicket victory over the hosts in the third Twenty20 International on Tuesday in Guyana, Team India maintained its position in the five-match series against the West Indies.

The team put in an all-around effort as it held the Windies to 159/5 before chasing down the target with two overs remaining. While Tilak Varma also displayed composure with an unbeaten 49, Suryakumar Yadav was the star with the bat as India earned their first series victory with a scorching 83.

However, India's chase had gotten off to a rocky start as they dropped two quick wickets after both of their openers left without much of a fuss.

Shubman Gill's poor form persisted as he endured another one-digit outing, scoring 6, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the first over after scoring 1 off 2 balls.

Then, Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease with Tilak Varma returning at number 4. The pair put on an 87-run third-wicket stand, with Suryakumar scoring 58 of those runs.

Tilak had the most runs scored in the Indian innings in the first two games, but in Guyana, Suryakumar wreaked havoc on the Windies bowlers, and Tilak was content to play second fiddle.

After the win, Suryakumar and Tilak got together for a humorous conversation for BCCI's official social media platforms, where they talked about the game. Suryakumar questioned the young player about his calm and collected batting approach and insisted that Tilak handled the situation appropriately.

Since Wicket was moving rather slowly today, I considered taking calculated risks. “Wicket was pretty slow today, so I thought of taking calculated risks. I recieved some loose balls and just waited for the ball to come,” Tilak said about his batting.

The Indian teenager also disclosed that Suryakumar Yadav wore a wristband with the message, "Powerplay me thoda time lekar khelna hai (Give yourself time during the Powerplay)" as he walked out to bat. In response, Suryakumar laughed and said that he wasn't following his own advice at the time.

“Sometimes, you have to play bluff with yourself. Aaj maine khud ko ullu bana diya (I tricked myself today)! I thought I would take time and peak slowly. But then I realised I would play to the team's requirement, and don't do anything different. I did the same team, I enjoyed myself, and loved batting with the star (Tilak Varma),” said the 32-year-old batter, who is currently world no.1 in T20Is.

As the teams head to Florida for the final two games of the series, India faces yet another must-win scenario in the fourth Twenty20 international on Saturday.
