Dehradun: After increasing the prevalence of surrogacy to have children, the Dhami government in Uttarakhand is now going to prepare the Surrogacy Act. In this regard, the Health Department has started preparing a proposal. The proposal will be tabled in the Assembly after getting approval from the Cabinet. It is known that now many people take the help of surrogacy to have children. In this, children are born through surrogacy with the approval of another woman.

However, there is no rule in Uttarakhand yet for this. Due to this, many times people get caught in fraud and many other types of problems. In view of this, it has now been decided to prepare the Surrogacy Act at the level of the Health Department. Sources in the Health Department said that along with the central rules in this Act, some proposals will also be placed on behalf of the state. So that it is possible to follow the rules and regulations due to surrogacy in the future. Officials of the Directorate General of Health said that the work of making a proposal for the Surrogacy Act has started. It will be finalised soon and brought for cabinet approval.

According to experts, there is a need for a strict law for surrogacy because it carries the risk of the exploitation of a vulnerable woman. Along with this, there are health and psychological risks in this process. Given the rapid growth of surrogacy in society, the need for a strong law is now felt for it. This whole process and after that, many times there is a situation of a mutual dispute, which threatens to create problems. Being a moral matter, it also requires strict legislation.
