New Delhi: Elected Members of Parliament, anticipated to join the forthcoming Cabinet and Council of Ministers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, gathered for a convivial high tea at the Prime Minister's residence on Sunday afternoon, preceding the scheduled oath-taking ceremony later in the evening.
Dignitaries from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) such as Nirmala Sitharaman and Sarbananda Sonowal were observed arriving at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, to partake in the tea meeting today.
In addition to BJP leaders, figures like Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy and party leader Bandi Sanjay arrived together, while notable personalities including Piyush Goyal, S Jaishankar, Dharmendra Pradhan, and RLD Chief Jayant Singh Chaudhary also made their presence felt at the customary high tea event.
Departing from his residence in the national capital, Chirag Paswan, Chief of LJP (Ram Vilas), remarked earlier today, "I am going to meet the PM."
The gathering witnessed the arrival of prominent BJP leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Reflecting on the occasion, Republican Party of India Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale expressed his sentiments, stating, "The Prime Minister has been bestowed with a historic opportunity for the third time, and I am grateful for the responsibility entrusted to me. I will discharge my duties with utmost diligence, whatever portfolio I am assigned."
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan also shared his views with the media, emphasizing the significance of Prime Minister Modi's third term. He remarked, "It is a momentous occasion for the country as Modiji takes oath for the third time. The aspirations for a developed India will be realized, positioning the nation as a global leader."
The morning also witnessed the arrival of BJP MP-elect Rajnath Singh and leaders like Jitin Prasada and Ravneet Singh Bittu at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
The oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for 7:15 PM, is set to take place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Stringent security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of around 1,100 traffic police personnel and the positioning of NSG commandos, drones, and snipers to ensure the safety of dignitaries and attendees.
Additionally, distinguished leaders and state heads from neighboring regions and the Indian Ocean region have been extended invitations, underscoring India's commitment to its 'Neighborhood First' policy.
The electoral landscape, as per the Election Commission of India's announcement, reveals the BJP's victory with 240 seats and the Congress securing 99 seats, marking a significant event leading up to the oath-taking ceremony.
