New Delhi is ready to welcome leaders from around the world for the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled for September 9 and 10. The city has gone to great lengths to ensure a seamless and visually appealing event, adorning its streets with vibrant murals, graffiti, and painted walls.

The G20 Summit, presided over by India, will see the participation of leaders from 19 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States, in addition to representatives from the European Union.

Notable figures attending the summit include US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among others. To create an inviting atmosphere, over 100,000 potted plants have been strategically placed along roads, sidewalks, roundabouts, markets, flyovers, and public spaces throughout the city.

Security has been ramped up significantly by the Delhi Police, with intensive checks and measures in place. The NSG (National Security Guard) dog squad, comprised of skilled canines named Zenon, Ming, Zone, Zozo, and Zinger, accompanied by their handlers and bomb disposal units, has diligently inspected both the Rajghat area and other event venues, such as the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Pusa campus, to ensure a safe environment.

Traffic regulations have been strictly enforced in the national capital during the summit. The New Delhi district has been designated as Controlled Zone-I from 5 am on Friday until 11:59 pm on Sunday. This includes the suspension of bus movement from the Rajokari border to the city between September 8 and 10. Additionally, online delivery services, except for medicines, have been temporarily prohibited in the vicinity of the G20 summit venue and delegate hotels.

According to a recent gazette notification issued by the Delhi Government, various types of vehicles, including goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, interstate buses, and local city buses, are not permitted to operate on specific routes such as Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road, and inside the Pragati Maidan Tunnel from midnight on September 7 until 11:59 pm on September 10. However, interstate buses will still be allowed to enter Delhi through alternative border points.

New Delhi has spared no effort in making preparations for the G20 Summit, focusing on aesthetics, security, and traffic management to ensure a successful and secure gathering of global leaders.
