Pratapgarh: Naib Nazir Sunil Kumar Sharma of Lalganj tehsil of Pratapgarh in UP died at the district hospital late on Saturday night. He was badly beaten up in the tehsil premises on the night of March 30, after which Sunil had lodged a complaint with the Suchana police station accusing the SDM of beating him up. After the death of Naib Nazir, his family members created a lot of ruckus in the hospital. The commotion calmed down after the body was sent for post mortem. After Sunil's death, a case of murder was registered against the criminal SDM Gyanendra Vikram Singh and three unidentified persons in Lalganj Kotwali late on Saturday night. On the other hand, the collector has removed the SDM and given the charge to another.  

In fact, recently, Naib Nazir Sunil Sharma of Lalganj tehsil had made an allegation that SDM Gyanendra Vikram Singh had beaten him up on the night of March 30. The next day, his report was not filed but on the instructions of the ADM, his injuries were treated. Later, he was admitted to the Lalganj Trauma Centre. On Saturday, district trade union council president Hemant Nandan Ojha had given a complaint letter to the collector alleging that Sunil Sharma's condition had deteriorated but he was not being referred from Lalganj. Thereafter, late in the evening, he was referred to the district hospital.

Sudhir Sharma, son of deceased Sunil Sharma, has alleged that his father was in the official residence on March 30. At 9 p.m., suddenly, Deputy District Magistrate Lalganj Gyanendra Vikram Singh along with his three accomplices entered the house and thrashed them severely. The son of the deceased said that his father was demanding only 6,000 bricks so that the boundary of the tehsil campus could be constructed. He said that due to the beating of Gyanendra Vikram Singh and his associates, the condition of Naib Nazir Sunil Sharma worsened, after which, he was admitted to the hospital. Sunil Sharma died due to treatment. Following the uproar by the family members, Collector Nitin Bansal has removed the culprit SDM Gyanendra Vikram Singh from the Lalganj tehsil. They were attached to the district headquarters.
