New Delhi: Aftab Amin Poonawalla, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the brutal murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, has filed a petition in the court for bail. In his petition, Aftab has sought bail, pleading for his career. Aftab's petition is likely to come up for hearing on Saturday ( December 17). According to reports, Aftab Poonawalla's lawyer filed a bail application in Delhi's Saket Court on Friday (December 16). In this bail application, it was argued that the investigation of the case has been completed and the police will now have to file a charge sheet.
Aftab's lawyer Avinash Kumar told the court, "The grounds taken in the bail application argue that there will be no benefit from keeping the accused in judicial custody even now." Aftab's plea said the extension of judicial custody would harm his career and future. Earlier, the court had ordered an extension of Aftab's judicial custody by 14 days in a hearing held on December 9. During the hearing, the Delhi Police told the court that the matter was under investigation. Police are currently awaiting Aftab's polygraph and narco-test reports. Along with this, it is also being said that postmortem can also be done on various bones found in the forests, as after examining the bones, the Forensic Lab had said that marks of sharp weapons have been found on the bones.
Let us know that all the evidence revealed so far, in this case, is against Aftab. Even the DNA of Shraddha's father and brother's blood samples has been matched with the bones found in the Forest of Mehrauli. On Thursday (December 15, 2022), Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena approved the Delhi police's proposal to appoint a special public prosecutor to represent the Delhi government in the trial court in the Shraddha murder case. According to the LG's office, advocates Madhukar Pandey and Amit Prasad will represent the Delhi Police as special public prosecutors in the case.
