Pune: President Droupadi Murmu of India presented the prestigious President's colors to the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune on Friday, marking a momentous occasion for the institution.
During her address, the President commended AFMC for upholding the highest standards in medical education, emphasizing its reputation as an esteemed establishment. She lauded the graduates for their exemplary service, both within the nation and on international fronts, bringing pride to the country through their dedication and commitment.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of the armed forces in safeguarding national interests and fostering internal peace, President Murmu emphasized the vital contribution of the Armed Forces Medical Services. She praised the institution for ensuring the optimal health of valiant soldiers, always prepared for their duties.
Addressing the AFMC students directly, President Murmu underscored their significant responsibility in safeguarding the health of those who protect the nation. She applauded their resilience and determination, highlighting that their unwavering willpower can overcome any challenge.
Recognizing the contributions of female graduates, the President hailed their remarkable achievements in army medicine and their ascent to high-ranking positions in various military branches. Notably, she mentioned alumni such as Punita Arora, the first woman Lieutenant General in the country's army, and Padma Bandopadhyay, the inaugural woman Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force.
President Murmu also emphasized the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, precision medicine, 3D printing, and telemedicine in the medical field. She stressed the importance of research and technological advancements in ensuring top-tier medical care for personnel across all three services.
President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Maharashtra includes various engagements, including her review of the Passing out Parade of the 145th course of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, Pune. She inaugurated the centenary year celebrations of Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala, Maharashtra, earlier in the week.
Her itinerary also includes gracing the 111th convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University scheduled for tomorrow in Nagpur.
