Tirupati: On Tuesday, a minor stampede occurred at Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred at the Sarvadarshan ticket counter, where it was issuing darshan tokens.
Three pilgrims were claimed to have suffered minor injuries, according to local media. For treatment, the injured worshippers were sent to a government hospital.
The Sri Venkateswara Swami Vaari Temple, also known as Tirupati Balaji Temple, is one of the country's most respected temples. The temple, which is located in the hill town of Tirumala in the Andhra Pradesh district of Tirupati, attracts thousands of visitors every day. The temple is devoted to Venkateswara, a Vishnu incarnation who, according to legend, protected mankind from the Kali Yuga's horrors.
According to reports, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's governing body authorities have stopped handing out free darshan tokens for the past two days. The TTD has capped daily pilgrims and only permitted pilgrims with valid tickets to enter Tirumala, in accordance with Covid standards. As a result, a huge number of worshippers remained in Tirumala.
A considerable crowd gathered at the counters that issue sarvadarshanam tokens on Tuesday (free darshan). After a two-day hiatus, the Srinivasam and Bhudevi complexes, as well as Govindaraja poultry, reopened their kiosks to issue free darshan tokens.
Thousands of worshippers flocked to purchase tickets, and TTD security personnel were unable to keep the situation under control. The queuing lines were harmed, and there was a little stampede. Due to the large number of pilgrims, TTD has cancelled the VIP darshan and asked devotees to come to Tirumala and see the deity directly. Pilgrims wanting to visit Tirupati for sarvadarshan can expect to stay for two to three days.
