Maharashtra Assembly Election Witnesses 65% Voter Turnout
On Wednesday, the Maharashtra assembly elections recorded an estimated voter turnout of 65 per cent. The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is striving to retain power, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition is aiming to maintain its momentum ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Election officials mentioned that these figures are preliminary, noting that the voter turnout in the 2019 assembly elections was 61.74 per cent.
In the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district, voter participation reached 69.63 per cent. Meanwhile, Mumbai, the state’s financial hub, reported an estimated turnout of 54 per cent, compared to 50.67 per cent in 2019.
